It was a Motorola transponder that relayed his first words from the moon to earth in July 1969. His specially designed backpack antennas were supplied by Motorola. Col. Edwin Aldrin’s messages from Apollo 11 Lunar module were transmitted over Motorola S - band Equipment. The transponder aboard Apollo 11 transmitted telemetry, tracking, voice communications and television signals between earth and the moon.
