When Neil Armstrong created history with his first step on moon and described it as

“One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” and Motorola was there with him

It was a Motorola transponder that relayed his first words from the moon to earth in July 1969. His specially designed backpack antennas were supplied by Motorola. Col. Edwin Aldrin’s messages from Apollo 11 Lunar module were transmitted over Motorola S - band Equipment. The transponder aboard Apollo 11 transmitted telemetry, tracking, voice communications and television signals between earth and the moon. Since then, Motorola has been at the forefront of invention and innovation in Radio Communications - answering mission critical communication needs and empowering first respondents, enabling critical communication and saving lives.
