CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF VISITS JAIPUR

Gen VK Singh, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) accompanied by Mrs Bharti Singh, President Central Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), visited HQ South Western Command at Jaipur today. They were received at Jaipur Helipad by Lt Gen Gyan Bhushan, GOC-in-C (Army Commander) South Western Command and Mrs Anju Bhushan, Regional President AWWA, South Western Command.

During his farewell visit, the COAS interacted with all officers of Sapta Shakti Command and complimented them on professionalism exhibited during various exercises, both with foreign armies and those conducted towards honing their operational skills. He reiterated the external and internal security environment and emphasized the efforts required to overcome our security challenges, especially manifestation of Left Wing Extremism. COAS stated that transformation and modernization of the Armed Forces, including induction of state of art equipment, overcoming hollowness and development of network centricity is mandatory to enhance the threshold of our operational readiness. He also reiterated that collectively we must attain pinnacles of excellence with multi faceted progression and imbibe fine moral values, which are lifelines of the Indian Army. He stressed upon the rich military traditions, ethos and the value system and the importance to remain committed and well focused to discharge the onerous responsibilities, while preparing for all contingencies.





COAS endorsed that veterans happen to be our extended family and it is our sacred duty to look after them. He complimented Sapta Shakti Command for taking numerous initiatives towards the same. The COAS also visited 61 Cavalry being ex officio Colonel of the Regiment. He interacted with all ranks of the unit.

Mrs Bharti Singh, President Central Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), met the families of Sapta Shakti Command. She thanked them for their wholehearted support towards the implementation of all pervasive welfare schemes through AWWA and impressed upon all families to lead happy and progressive lives in an enriching and conducive environment.

During lunch, hosted by the Sapta Shakti Command, the COAS and President Central AWWA interacted with the serving officers, veterans and their families. On departure from Jaipur, the COAS was presented with an impressive Guard of Honour at the Army helipad. The COAS reviewed the parade in the present of all ranks of Sapta Shakti Command.
