Sizable orders from Egypt for KraussMaffei Berstorff

“Made in Germany” the label that carries conviction

Munich, December 3, 2009 – Even in an economic crisis, quality ‘Made in Germany’ is a key success factor. Two large orders from Egypt illustrate how KraussMaffei Berstorff is opening up new markets with mature extrusion technology carrying this label.

 

Munich Extrusion, the Munich arm of KraussMaffei Berstorff, has booked major orders from Egypt – from Al Amal, a major manufacturer of PVC pipe systems, and from the Lasheen Group, one of the country’s leading manufacturers of plastic products. Cairo-based Al Amal already operates a pelletizing system from Munich Extrusion. Now the company has placed an order with KraussMaffei Berstorff for six extrusion lines to produce U-PVC, C-PVC and PP-R pipe.

 

Exacting quality specifications

Al Amal aims to produce pipe, especially for the C-PVC market, that meets the very highest quality standards. This is why, when the Egyptian company was looking to expand production, it chose to invest in KraussMaffei Berstorff machinery. The first lines have already been shipped; the rest will be delivered starting in early 2010 once they have completed factory acceptance tests in our Munich TechCenter.

 

UDI (United for Developed Industries), who placed the second recent large order from Egypt, is a newly-founded subsidiary of the Lasheen Group, a company group that includes plastics processing among its many business activities. UDI ordered four KraussMaffei Berstorff PVC pipe extrusion lines, for pipe from 16 to 800 millimetres, to be installed in its new factory near Cairo. “Before awarding us the contract, UDI made extensive enquiries from other companies in the Arab-speaking world about KraussMaffei Berstorff and our competitors,” reports Albert Brunner, Sales Manager for Egypt. “In the last analysis, our reputation and our proven quality were decisive in our getting the contract.”
