DMS APPOINTS SENIOR EXECUTIVES

Mining services group Diversified Mining Services Limited (DMS) has made two senior appointments as the company looks to consolidate a successful last 12 months where the company made a number of acquisitions.

Under the changes General Manager, Business Development Darryl Crowder will take on a wider range of management responsibilities in his new position as Chief Operating Officer while former senior Mincom executive Greg Davies has been appointed to the newly created position of General Manager, Human Resources.

Mr Crowder is a highly skilled and experienced business professional with more than 15 years management experience in the manufacturing industry. He has significant experience in large scale project management and has worked in senior management roles for several large companies including Australian National Industries (ANI), Smorgon Steel and The Nepean Engineering Group.

He is currently a director MWREDC (Mackay Whitsunday Economic Development Corporation) as the mining services representative from M.A.I.N. (Mackay Area Industrial Network) and is the current Chair of the “Strategic Paget” an advisory body representing the heavy engineering and mining services sector in the region. He is also on the advisory board of CQ University.

Mr Davies has worked in a variety of roles in the IT industry across a range of industries including electricity supply, local government, insurance and asset management.  Prior to joining DMS he was Executive Vice-President, Human Resources at Mincom, a global software and IT services business and leading provider of software products to the mining industry.

He was responsible for developing and implementing Mincom’s global HR strategy which covers 1,100+ staff on five continents with an annual remuneration budget exceeding $100 million. Greg was also a Director of Mincom’s Leukaemia Foundation Trust, and has been a Committee member of the Qld branch of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) since 2007.

DMS was formed in 2007 to establish a new alternative for large-scale mining operations in the Australian coal industry where the services sector remains highly fragmented and dominated by small to medium-sized companies which lack the resources to seize the opportunities available.

Under share purchase agreements, DMS, an unlisted public company, acquired six separate businesses through a combination of debt and equity. The acquired businesses are Anderson Group of Companies, Ausgroup Industries, Ausscaffold, East Coast Engineering, AllSteel Fabrications and MachineTek Engineering.

Most of the acquired businesses are focused on servicing the coal industry with a particular focus on Queensland’s Bowen Basin with some operations in the New South Wales Hunter Valley. DMS businesses already hold preferred supplier status with most major mining companies.
