Motorola Launches New TETRA Solution - Dimetra LiTE - for Indian Enterprises

A cost-effective and easy-to-deploy secure digital communication solution that will help boost operational and business efficiency

New Delhi – September 09, 2009 - Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), the world leader in development and deployment of TETRA digital trunked communication solutions, today unveiled its latest solution - Dimetra LiTE - on the sidelines of TETRA Association’s event, ‘TETRA Moving Forward in India’, in New Delhi.

This easy to deploy Dimetra LiTE solution builds on Motorola’s Dimetra IP family of TETRA solutions which enjoy a proven track record of mission-critical communication deployments across Asia Pacific.  The new solution supports features such as integrated voice and data services and full duplex IP telephony calls which are critical to enterprise users such as utility, transportation, small airports, small seaports, resorts and large hotels. This compact switch also provides an interface to conventional analog systems, thus making it ideally suited for operators upgrading from analogue to advanced digital solutions and requiring a smooth migration path.

“With the launch of Dimetra LiTE we can now deliver the benefits of digital trunking solutions to our enterprise customers due to TETRA technology’s affordability’, said Subodh Vardhan, Country head for Motorola’s Government and Public Safety business, Enterprise Mobility Solutions. “As the world’s largest TETRA supplier, Motorola has a proven track record of designing scalable TETRA IP solutions, ranging from small single-site deployments to nation-wide solutions. In India, Motorola’s TETRA solution in a short span of time has emerged as the trusted technology for mission-critical applications in the transportation infrastructure segment, including the new strategic international airports in Delhi, Bangaluru and Hyderabad”, he added.

Dimetra LiTE uses the field proven range of TETRA Base Stations which deliver market leading performance and coverage. The radio site is linked to Dimetra LiTE using standard Ethernet interface which means saving on the cost of leased lines and the remote access function allows system monitoring and diagnostics to be done centrally which can further reduce maintenance costs. Motorola’s TETRA solutions have been designed to be affordable and cost effective in serving multiple users with its flexibility in scale and type of deployment, range of TETRA terminals such as the MTP850 and breadth of integrated data applications.

Currently, Dimetra LiTE is available in 15 countries across Asia Pacific including China, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Thailand. Globally Motorola’s complete portfolio of TETRA solutions with infrastructure, terminals, applications and services are now in use in over 90 countries worldwide. The company’s long history of innovation in the two-way radio industry stretches back to 1936 with the introduction of the Police Cruiser Radio Receiver and it has maintained its position at the forefront of TETRA. Recent innovations include the MTP850Ex TETRA portable terminal – a class leading ATEX device allowing use when in environments containing potentially explosive gas and dust.

Also on display at the Motorola booth were the latest TETRA radios and solutions, including MTP850; MTC100; TCR1000; and MTS2.
