A Parisian winter of shopping, affordable prices and romance

From December to February, Paris is the setting for illuminations, tempting sales and then romance. To celebrate these three exciting months, Parisian tourism trade professionals will be treating visitors to special offers. Three marketing campaigns – ‘Christmas in Paris’, ‘Shopping by Paris’ and ‘Romantic Paris’ — will further enhance the season with special events and attractions. Details can be found on the parisinfo.com website at the end of November 2012 onwards.

In December, Paris, the City of Light glitters with lights during the festive season and is decked out in all its finery: Christmas illuminations adorn more than 100 streets. With the marketing campaign Christmas in Paris, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau will add to the magic of the festivities by putting the Paris City Passport Shopping 2012* in its various tourist information offices. This nominative card, valid for 3 consecutive days, offers reductions of 10% in some 70 or so shops. What’s more, from the 1st to the 15th of December, hotel guests will benefit from free delivery of purchases made online on parisinfo.com.

In January, Paris, fashion capital plunges headlong into the excitement of the winter sales. The city is the cradle of many legendary brands and has more than 5,000 ready-to-wear shops. Shopping is one of the major reasons that visitors come to Paris. During the sales period, Parisian tourism professionals will be increasing the number of reductions and special offers with the marketing campaign Shopping by Paris. Tourist accommodation providers will be offering upgrading, complimentary breakfasts, well-being sessions in a spa, etc. Personal shoppers will be giving special reductions on their normal rates or small gifts. For its part, the Bureau will place the now famous Paris Shopping Book with its valuable addresses at the disposal of visitors, and it will also be giving away the new Paris City Passport Shopping 2013*.

In February, Paris, the world’s most romantic destination, is all about romance. Lovebirds of every feather dream of celebrating Valentine’s Day there. With the marketing campaign Romantic Paris, it will be the turn of the Bureau’s ‘leisure’ members (coach operators, guides, organizers of unusual visits, transport operators, shops, cabarets, shows, etc.) to present attractive ‘duo offers’, so, lots of great ideas for a romantic getaway for two in the City of Light. As for the Bureau, it will be offering special rates on certain products sold online on parisinfo.com, which may then be picked up from its various tourist information points.

In order to strengthen the attractiveness of the ‘capital of shopping, fashion and glamour’ to French and international visitors, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau has, since 2006, organized themed marketing campaigns. These events, which boost tourist numbers during a relatively low season, are supported by Paris City Council, Paris Chamber of Trade and Industry and Atout France for the promotion of the event abroad.
