Pause for a Cause as Parikrama lends its voice to World Heart Fest 2012
Cardiological Society Of India (CSI), one of the oldest and most prolific organization in the field of cardiac sciences is organizing “World Heart Fest 2012” a daylong extravaganza event dedicated to the prevention of heart diseases at the NSIC Grounds, Kalkaji in New Delhi on 30th September, 2012 after the World Heart Day. The event would witness country’s one of the most celebrated rock bands - ‘Parikrama’, who are known for their passionate love for music. Lending their support to the cause the band shall roll out few of their famous tracks for the evening. Parikrama is known to open for rock metal band Iron Maiden across the globe. Their performances complete with psychedelic lights and remote-activated fireworks are known to be a treat for their fans.


Besides rocking numbers by the band, this day is dedicated to prevent heart diseases and will witness history by a major Guinness World RecordsTM achievement with attempt for hoisting 25000 heart shaped balloons and create the biggest human heart logo ever. There will be various activities aimed to drive awareness about prevention of heart diseases such as free cholesterol, cardiac checkups, healthy heart tips, expert talks etc. It would be graced by the presence of political figures, celebrities and corporate leaders. The corporate and medical fraternity has extended its support by partnering with the event. The event will also be inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi Smt. Shiela Dikshit along with Shri. Sandeep Dikshit, MP.



Speaking on the occasion Subir Malik the manager and keyboardist of the band urged the Dilliwalas to join the prevention drive and stated that “We feel that music is one language heard most strongly and we are proud of our contribution to such a noble cause.”

The event is a joint initiative advocating continuous heart care, irrespective of age and gender. It has been incepted with the aim to create awareness about those little lifestyle changes that one must bring about to lead a heart healthy life. According to research WHO estimates that by 2020, Cardio vascular diseases will be the largest cause of disability and death in India. Currently there are 41 million suffering from diabetes, 118 million suffering from hypertension and if current trends continue the figures will rise to 70 and 213 million respectively by 2025. Keeping this issue in mind CSI has initiated the daylong extravaganza event dedicated to prevent heart diseases amongst all segments of people.

This event illustrate to join the nation's pulse as the nation waits to see its capital, 'The Dilwalon Ka Shaher' to come out in the largest of numbers to support and stand for this cause.
