Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce

 

 

            In an Interactive Session organised by Merchant’s Chamber of Commerce today, H.E. Eng. John. W.H. Kijazi, Highcommissioner of the Union Republic of Tanzania, pointed out the areas of co-operation between India and Tanzania in the areas of agri

 

            He suggested the Steel Industry to develop suitable technology for utilization of Iron Ore fines within the country as fines are exported due to non-availability of suitable technology. On the issue of poor infrastructure and lack of connectivity in the region and between the states in the region, he said that there is a historical neglect and invited industry to participate in development of infrastructure on PPP model. He informed that 500 industrial units would be set up in the region and one lac employment would be created . To provide basic ingredients to the plastic units operating in the region Polymer will be produced by 2012 in the region itself.

 

            Earlier Shri S.S.Beriwala, President MCC focused on resources potential of the region and requested for a National Policy of Iron Ore Distribution to cater the needs of medium and small producers in West Bengal. He suggested  that OMDC and OMC in Orissa may be entrusted to supply Iron Ore to the units located in West Bengal. He also mentioned on the possibilities of enhancing trade with the neighbouring countries with the North Eastern Region.
