In anticipation of the launch on February 3 -8th of VIP 2.0, the leading online contemporary art event, VIP Art Fair announces details of its VIP Discussions and Films and preview events.
From the 25th January, VIP 2.0 will premiere Foundations, a series of daily one-on-one filmed discussions with noted art world commentators, professionals and dealers. Sotheby’s Institute professor and art consultant Lowell Pettit will discuss the ins and outs of collecting contemporary art; investment consultant and Artvest partner Michael Plummer will explore the burgeoning art market in Asia, the Middle East and Latin America; and well-known art world personality Adam Lindeman will give his perspective on being a collector in this expanding marketplace.
Additionally, Christiane Fischer, President and CEO of AXA Art Insurance and VIP 2.0 Lead Partner will conduct an online Q&A about issues of art ownership taking questions via Twitter submitted by the audience. She comments: “The VIP Art Fair provides a global, online entry point to the world of contemporary art, as well as an unrivalled network for the professional art world. AXA are delighted to be answering fair visitors questions and issues on insurance, and look forward to receiving questions via [#VIPartfair].”
Also before VIP 2.0 launches, there will be a series of Preview films with a selection of exhibiting dealers who will be discussing what they are bringing to the fair. These include Elizabeth Dee (New York), Galleria Continua (San Gimignano) and Galeria OMR (Mexico City) as well as several others.
From 3rd February, as part of VIP 2.0’s Creative Programming Partner, Art21, the nonprofit award-winning contemporary art film producer, will be offering an exclusive sneak preview of short films on the artists featured in their upcoming Season 6 Art in the Twenty-First Century. Artists include: Catherine Opie, El Anatsui, Ai Weiwei, David Altmejd, Tabaimo, assume vivid astro focus, Lynda Benglis, Glenn Ligon, Mary Reid Kelley, Marina AbramoviƧ, Rackstraw Downes, Robert Mangold, Sarah Sze. These films will premiere daily at intervals during the fair.
As well as this, there will be a new edition to the Collections in Private series premiering on February 2nd featuring The Kramlich Collection, a selection of works collected by Pam and Dick Kramlich, pioneers in the collecting of video art. The five other films in this series produced in 2011 will also be available for viewing throughout the fair.
