Hail to thee, Goddess Durga!

She is the embodiment of the spirit of goodness that ultimately conquers and vanquishes the forces of evil. But in Bengal she is also the loved daughter who makes her yearly journey from her abode in the Himalayas to bless the land. She brings with her, her children the goddesses of knowledge and wealth and her sons the gods of war and intelligence so that her maternal land may be blessed with peace, prosperity, knowledge and wisdom.
