The Coal stock position with the power plants of the country, particularly in Northern India, is being continuously reviewed in the Ministry of Coal. The coal despatch has now increased to 180 rakes as on 14.10.2011, out of which 149 rakes have been supplied to the power sector. The total despatches are likely to increase further in the next few days.
The Power Stations in Northern India have been dispatched, on an average 40 rakes/day of coal during the month of October, 2011 till 14th, and the target is to increase it further to 53 rakes per day to meet their requirements. The power plants in the northern region were supplied 140 rakes during the last three days, which includes 16 rakes to Badarpur TPS and 20 rakes to Dadri TPS.
Supply to the power stations located all over the country is being further augmented. The coal stock position in the power houses, especially in the Northern India, is being monitored very closely and wherever necessary the supply of coal is being increased to ensure smooth power supply in North India. The coal companies have been advised to ensure priority movement of coal to the power stations.
