Working Group on Power to Suggest Twelfth Plan Capacity Addition Programme
The Planning Commission has set up a Working Group on Power for formulation of the Twelfth Five Year Plan under the Chairmanship of Secretary (Power). The Working Group in its Report, inter-alia, will suggest capacity addition programme for the Twelfth Plan, along with the requirement of various fuels including coal, which will be finally decided by the Planning Commission while formulating the Twelfth Five Year Plan. However, coal based power projects of more than 50,000 MW, for which coal linkage is available or coal blocks have been allotted, are under construction for likely benefits during the 12th Plan and beyond. The requirement of coal would be met through enhanced domestic production and import.
This information was given by Minister of State for Power Shri K.C.Venugopal in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
