Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal Meets the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus
An Indian delegation under the chairmanship of Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal, Union Minister of Coal met with the First Deputy Prime minister Mr. V.Semashko of Government of Belarus in Minsk today to discuss about possible technical cooperation between the two countries in the areas of coal & lignite mining. The meeting was also attended by Belarus Minister of Industry, Deputy Foreign Minister and Deputy Minister of Energy.
They discussed the scope for technical cooperation between the two countries particularly for manufacturing of heavy duty dump trucks for opencast mining, tractors and equipment for underground mining. In addition to this, the first dy. pm also requested the Indian delegation to explore possibilities of taking part in the advanced brown coal processing project. The First Deputy Prime minister of Belarus evinced interest to associate themselves in the manufacturing of heavy duty dump trucks for coal mining in India.
The delegation had earlier visited on 17th June 2011 the manufacturing facilities of m/s Belaz, the heavy duty dump trucks and other allied machinery manufacturers in the public sector. The Indian delegation found the facilities to be state of the art and felt that there was ample scope to induct such machinery in Indian coal mining. The Belarusian side expressed satisfaction and indicated that m/s belaz will take part in the forthcoming tenders floated by coal India ltd. for procurement of heavy duty dump trucks.
The ministerial delegation included special secretary, ministry of coal, CMDs of coal India ltd., and Neyveli lignite corporation ltd., and director (technical) from the ministry of coal.
