VISITS HQ NORTHERN COMMAND

Chief of Army Staff,
General Bikram Singh, arrived here on a two day visit to J&K. He is
accompanied by Mrs Bubbles Singh, President, Family Welfare Organisation
(FWO).
The Army Chief had a
detailed interaction with Lt Gen KT Parnaik, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief
(GOC-in-C), Northern Command. In this meeting with the GOC-in-C, the COAS was
apprised of the current security situation and the operational preparedness in
Northern Command, as well as the complex dynamics of the proxy war situation in
the State.
The Army Chief is
also visiting Srinagar where he will be briefed by General Officer Commanding,
Chinar Corps and will proceed to forward areas for meeting and interacting with
troops deployed on the Line of Control (LoC). During his visit to Srinagar, Gen
Bikram Singh will also make a courtesy call on His Excellency, the Governor,
Shri NN Vohra and the Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Omar Abdullah.
Mrs Bubbles Singh
interacted with Mrs Anagha Parnaik, Regional President, FWO, Northern Command
and was briefed on the various welfare related activities being undertaken. She
also interacted with other ladies of Northern Command and Veer Naris during her
visit and a similar interaction with ladies of Chinar Corps and Veer Naris is
planned during her visit to Srinagar, General Bikram Singh
has immense experience and knowledge of the operational dynamics in J&K
since he has the distinction of having commanded a battalion, RR Sector,
Division as well as a Corps in Northern Command. Choosing J&K as the first
destination of his visit after taking over as Army Chief, indicates the special
significance Gen Bikram Singh attaches to the State.
