Shri Jaipal Reddy to Lead Indian Delegation at Doha WPC

The Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri S Jaipal Reddy arrives at Doha today to participate in the 20th World Petroleum Congress (WPC) at the capital city of Qatar. Shri Reddy will address WPC sessions on 5th and 7th December 2011. Shri Reddy will address the first Ministerial Session on the 5th. He is scheduled to deliver speech during Plenary Session on the theme “Multi-Sectoral Cooperation and a Sustainable Energy Industry” on 7th December. The Minister will also hold bilateral talks with visiting ministerial delegations for enhancing cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Bilateral meetings with the delegations of Qatar, Kazakhstan, EU and Oman have been scheduled.

WPC held once every three years, brings together the leading decision makers and experts of global oil and gas sector for an in-depth review of industry and future trends. The event offers an opportunity to not only engage nations on relevant multi-lateral issues for mutual benefit and sustainable development of hydrocarbon sector but also to explore and enhance the bilateral relations in the sector. Attended by about 4,000 delegates, the WPC is also accompanied by an exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and sharing the best practices. Indian Oil PSUs are putting up India pavilion in the Exhibition arena to project the milestones achieved in the Indian oil and gas sector.

Indian delegation includes Secretary, MoPNG and senior officers of the Petroleum Ministry as well as C&MDs and other officers of Oil Companies.
