Order for SMS Demag AG

Norddeutsche Affinerie AG orders a rotary converter for copper Norddeutsche Affinerie AG, Germany, has placed an order with SMS Demag, a company of the SMS group, Germany, for the supply of a rotary converter for the extraction of copper. The converter is intended for the Lünen works, which is the company’s recycling location, and is destined for a tapped weight of 100 t of copper.
The SMS Demag supply scope comprises the basic and detail engineering, rotary converter vessel, vessel support frame, the XPact ® electrical and automation package for the rotary and tilt drives, and the supervision of erection and commissioning. Commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2010.
Norddeutsche Affinerie AG is Europe’s largest copper producer and is an international leader in copper recycling. The company produces around 1 million t of copper cathodes and more than 1.2 million t of copper products each year.
The customers of the NA group include companies active in the semifinished copper products industry, in the electrical, electronic and chemicals industries, as well as subsuppliers to the construction and automotive industries.
