SBB moves to the classroom and launches its steel training courses

On January 14th Steel Business Briefing launched its newest service to the steel and metals market with a portfolio of advanced training courses for steel executives.

Masterclasses held in London and other European and Middle Eastern cities will address the most pressing problems faced by boardroom executives: from raw materials sourcing and trading to hedging steel price volatility; from risk management to accurate price forecasting. These same courses can also be run at clients’ offices and may be tailored to specific business needs.

Patrick Flockhart, MD of Steel Business Briefing explained: “SBB’s mission is to provide steel professionals with the independent information they need to be able to navigate the steel markets. By offering training, we’re able to help them further build a solid knowledge base and practical skills that can be put to use straight away.”

The rise of the steel corporate university was cause for deep reflection: when producers such as Arcelor Mittal and Severstal invest in an internal academia, it’s obvious that traditional universities and B2B training providers are not addressing a real need. SBB is well positioned to fill this gap because our network of contacts allows us to harness an enormous amount of professional talent and know-how dispersed in the steel markets. SBB has invited selected steel experts from around the globe to join our faculty, distil their invaluable 20+ year experience into three-day courses and deliver it in a classroom setting.

The first course available for registration is the four-day “How the Steel Market Works”, delivered at the new SBB Training Suite in central London. The following modules will be covered by the course:

Steel Making [trainers: Roger Manser and Paul Millbank, Steel Business Briefing]
Steel Trading and Steel Finance [trainers: Angus Kinnear, Steel Trader/Consultant; and Richard Willsher, The London Trade Group]
Steel Prices and Pricing [trainers: Steven Randall and Mark Wiggett, The Steel Index; Angus Kinnear]
Steel Futures [trainer: Neil Banks, Consultant]

This course can also be run at clients’ offices and may be tailored to specific business needs.
