India, July 2 , 2012: Following the astounding popularity of FaceCode Hackathon, the first app development contest of its kind, KRDS, the country's largest Facebook Preferred Developer Consultant (now PMD), is organizing ‘KRDS FaceCode’ for the second year in a row. ‘KRDS FaceCode’ is a 24hr, all-night hack contest for the developer community to build apps exclusively for Facebook. The enthusiastic response displayed by this community last year encouraged KRDS to conduct a second edition, the theme for which is ‘Write the Future’. FaceCode is one of India’s largest hackathons in scope; it encourages people to develop apps around real-life issues like corruption, education, traffic hauls etc. on Facebook, to lead Indians into a better future. With the social revolution India is experiencing today, developing apps for the social cause is one of the best ways to showcase demands. However, the themes for app development are left to the team’s creativity and imagination.

The contest begins on Saturday, July 7th and ends on Sunday, July 8th. FaceCode is open to all enthusiasts - freshers as well as working professionals - who can participate online or from KRDS’ offices in Chennai, Bengaluru and Delhi. While registrations are open until 8pm on Friday, July 6, participants are encouraged to register at the earliest to be able to choose apt team members and also to receive necessary communication about the contest.

Announcing the competition and inviting participants, Mr. Preetham Venkky, Business Head Asia, KRDS (Facebook Experts) said, “The enormous response last year of over 1000 registrations and the quality of apps we judged has convinced us that India has the best talent pool in the app development space. In fact, on overwhelming student request, we have had to postpone the hackathon by a month. With the second edition of FaceCode hackathon we want to bring out the best aptitude to innovate in the young as well as experienced developers in the country.”

According to industry veterans, hackathons are an ideal platform to come up with some strong prototypes and provide implementation ideas for the same. Developers deal with challenges on a day to day basis, but a challenge to ‘Write the Future’ is definitely one that is worth taking up!
