Gamesa India bags the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for Occupational Health & Safety

New Delhi, 2nd July, 2012: Gamesa Wind Turbines Pvt. Ltd., the Indian subsidiary of Gamesa – World leader in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of wind turbines, has been awarded the ‘Golden Peacock Occupational Health & Safety Award’ for the year 2012.
The Golden Peacock Award is being organised as a part of the 14th World Congress on Environment Management, will be presented at a ceremony scheduled in New Delhi on 8th July, 2012. Imminent personalities like Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble P. Chidambaram, Union Home Minister, Govt of India, Hon’ble (Smt) Ambika Soni , Union Minister for I &B , Govt of India, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and other dignitaries will be attending the two day event. Mr. Subodh Kant Sahay, Union Cabinet Minister for Tourism, will be the chief guest at the awards distribution ceremony.
On being bestowed with the award, Mr. Ramesh Kymal, Chairman & Managing Director, Gamesa Wind Turbine Pvt. Ltd. said; “We are happy to have received this recognition. We believe that safe & guarded working environment should not be concentrated at the senior employees of an organization, but to those who are actually interacting with the machinery on the day-to-day basis. Be it physical hazards or psycho-socio hazards, we have laid immense focus to make working environment safe & friendly for our employees. I thank the jury for acknowledging our efforts.”

Gamesa Wind Turbine Pvt. Limited, amongst other nominees was chosen by an expert assessment team comprising of Environment and Safety under the Chairmanship of Justice P. N. Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India. Each application was reviewed by three assessors independently on an exhaustive set of parameters.
