A group of 25 school children, three teachers and two parents of Lolab, District
Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir interacted with Chief of Army Staff at the Army HQ
today. The children are currently on ‘Watan Ki Sair’, a National
Integration tour conducted as part of the Operation Sadbhavana of Indian Army by
28 Rashtriya Rifles.
The children belong to Lolab Valley and this is the first opportunity, wherein
they are visiting places outside the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The tour is
aimed at exposing them, to the rich cultural heritage of the country they belong
to. The children will be visiting Delhi, Agra, Jhansi, Jabalpur and Panchmari
over a period of 14 days.
The COAS, exhorted the students to take keen interest in the goals they pursue
and asked them to place the Nation first in all the activities they undertake.
During his interaction, when questioned on the desire to join the Armed Forces,
majority of the students replied in the affirmative.
The group visited the India Gate, Red Fort, Raj Ghat and the Lotus temple in the
capital before they move ahead towards their next destination, Jhansi.
