Citrix VDI-in-a-Box Named Tech Awards Circle Winner

Desktop Virtualization Platform Selected Among Top Technology Products for 2012

India, July 13, 2012: Citrix today announced that Citrix VDI-in-a-Box™ desktop virtualization solution has been selected as a winner of the Tech Awards Circle, taking Silver in the Best Midrange Software Product category. Winners were selected by an independent circle of publication reviewers and journalists from nominations based on a broad range of achievements – from product and technology innovations to talented executive leadership and engineering innovators.
Tech Awards Circle celebrates the products, vendors and individuals making a difference in the industry today. The winners represent a broad range of achievements, from hardware to software to services in consumer/SOHO, SMB, midrange, and enterprise markets.
“Citrix exhibited true industry excellence to be recognized among the top of the Tech Awards Circle entrants,” said Kevin Anderson, awards program coordinator. “Our judges were impressed with the level of submissions from all the vendors entering this year’s competition, so to be named a winner of this prestigious award is a testament to the quality and innovation shown by the winners in the high tech community. We wish them continued success and look forward to them defending their title during the next awards period.”
“We are witnessing strong demand for desktop virtualization in the SMB market and are thrilled with the growing market momentum of VDI-in-a-Box. Several industry awards this year further validate our leadership in this space proving that businesses of all sizes are now able to simply and affordably realize the benefits of desktop virtualization – driving efficiency, improving scalability and enabling mobile workstyles,” said Krishna Subramanian, vice president of marketing and partner engagement at Citrix. “VDI-in-a-Box delivers all of these benefits in a simple and affordable solution.”
Citrix VDI-in-a-Box is a simple all-in-one VDI software appliance that enables Windows® administrators to rapidly deliver centrally-managed virtual desktops to any user, anytime, on any device – for less than the cost of new PCs. VDI-in-a-Box provides built-in high-availability and eliminates over 60 percent of traditional VDI infrastructure—including management servers and shared storage (SANs) – by creating a grid of off-the-shelf servers using local storage. Citrix announced earlier this year a technology preview of Project Aruba, which extends the simple affordable all-in-one Citrix VDI-in-a-Box with personal vDisk technology to reduce costs by delivering highly personalized virtual desktops with the cost-efficiency of desktop pools.

About Tech Awards Circle
Tech Awards Circle was established this year to truly honor the ‘best of the best’ in technology. Tech Awards Circle is not affiliated with an analyst firm or a media company, both of which are directly supported by tech vendors through consulting relationships or advertising sales, so it is uniquely unbiased and immune to conflicts of interest. Entries are judged by an independent circle of journalists, including product reviewers, each with at least a decade of experience covering technology from consumer electronics to enterprise-class computing. To prevent these judges from being unduly influenced by vendors, they have agreed to remain anonymous.
