Pranab inaugurates Universal Sompo General Insurance branch
at Raghunathganj (Murshidabad)
Raghunathganj (Murshidabad), Feb.7: Union Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated recently the new branch office and agents training institute of Universal Sompo General Insurance Company Ltd.
The Company is a Joint Venture between Allahabad Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Karnataka Bank, Dabur Investment Corp and Sompo Japan Inc. This is the first public private sector joint venture in General Insurance. The Company started its operations in November 2008.
The Agent Training Institute is accredited by Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority. It will be endowed with spacious class-rooms, experienced and knowledgeable faculty, and library having collections of books of various branches of Insurance and on-line training facility. It will not only train prospective agents of USGICL but also of other Insurance Companies as well.
This Training Institute will play a pivotal role in increasing insurance awareness not only in this part but also in other parts of West Bengal and other eastern and north-eastern states.
On the same day, Universal Sompo General Insurance opened its 52nd Branch Office. It will facilitate in imparting “On the Job Training” for the candidates undergoing theoretical training. It is a pioneering attempt on the Company’s part as currently there are no General Insurance Companies catering to the people living in that area. The Branch Office coupled with the Training Institute would prove beneficial to the local people as it will help in imparting insurance training and generating employment opportunities as well.
Mr. O. N. Singh Executive Chairman & Mr. Koichi Hattori Managing Director of Universal Sompo General Insurance along with other members of the board will be present at the event.
