Brussels, 17 February 2011– WorldAutoSteel announced today the appointment of Cees ten Broek to Director, replacing Ed Opbroek after more than a decade of service.  WorldAutoSteel is the automotive programme of the World Steel Association. 
 
Ten Broek has served as WorldAutoSteel’s Communications Director for the past three years joining from Tata Steel Europe’s Netherlands operations.   Prior to joining Tata and WorldAutoSteel, he held several senior manager functions at Xerox GmbH, Düsseldorf, Germany and ITT/Alcatel, Belgium. 
 
Ten Broek is supported by a newly formed Leadership Team which includes WorldAutoSteel’s Chairman, Dr. Henrik Adam, ThyssenKrupp AG, Dr. Yukihisa Kuriyama, Nippon Steel and Jody Shaw, U.S. Steel.  Opbroek continues in an advisory role to the Leadership Team.  During his tenure, Opbroek guided to completion the UltraLight Steel Family of Research, which received wide acceptance in the automotive industry, as well as the current FutureSteelVehicle (FSV) programme. 
 
“We are looking forward to a future that will be as bright as our past,” said Ten Broek. “At the center of which will be the global dissemination of the FSV programme’s excellent results beginning this May.” 
 
Ten Broek took up his duties on 1 January, which embrace and officiate the mission and goals established by WorldAutoSteel’s 17 member companies.
