GOLD PRODUCTION MILESTONE COINCIDES WITH NEW WEEKLY RECORD FROM TRIDENT

Highlights

§ Avoca has poured its 100,000th ounce of gold from Trident.

§ New weekly gold production record from Trident of 4,280 ounces for the week ending 10 May 2009. Treatment head grade increases to 5.6 g/t gold with 50% of mill feed for the week being from the high grade 1005 level Western Zone stope.

ASX 200 mid-tier gold producer, Avoca Resources Ltd (ASX:AVO), is pleased to announce a key milestone of having produced its 100,000th ounce from its wholly owned Trident gold mine, located south of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

Coinciding with the gold production milestone is a new weekly gold production record of 4,280 ounces from Trident. For the week ending 10 May 2009, a total of 24,709 tonnes of ore was processed at a grade of 5.6 g/t gold. Recovery was 97.1%.

The increase in throughput grade to 5.6 g/t gold is due in part to the +7 g/t high grade 1005 level Western Zone stope which comprised 50% of the mill feed for the week. The remainder of the mill feed was sourced predominantly from the 1041 level of the Western Zone and ore development headings.

The increase in throughput tonnes to 24,709 is equivalent to an annual treatment rate of 1.28 million tonnes, well in excess of the 1 million tonne per annum design of the treatment plant.

Avoca Managing Director, Mr Rohan Williams, said “this is an important double milestone for Avoca’s shareholders and shows that both the Trident gold mine and the treatment plant are performing above expectations.”

Mr Williams added that Avoca remained confident it would produce 180,000 ounces in financial year 2009/2010, at cash costs of approximately A$450 per ounce.
