Investments by BHEL
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited(BHEL) is willing to invest as a partner in State sector power projects, provided the Joint Venture Companies (JVCs) so formed source the main power plant equipment from BHEL.
The move would generate revenues & business for BHEL in respect of supply of main power plant equipment for the projects. It can also generate business for other PSUs, who may operate as sub-contractors/ suppliers/ vendors to these JVCs.
Raichur Power Corporation Limited, a Joint Venture formed by BHEL with Karnataka Power Corporations Ltd. (KPCL), has placed an order (Letter of Award (LoA) on BHEL for Rs. 6,300 crore in April 2010 for the 2x800MW Yeramarus project, and Letter of Intent (LoI) for Rs. 3,601 crore in September 2010 on BHEL for the 1x800MW Edlapur project, for supply of main power plant equipment for the respective projects.
The above information was given by the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Shri Praful Patel in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
