10 NDRF Teams Deployed for Rescue and Relief Operations in Orissa

Six districts of Orissa namely Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Baleswar, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar have been affected due to floods in the rivers Boodabalang, Suwarnrekha, Brahmani and Batrani. Rescue and relief operations have been launched in the flood affected areas. 10 teams of NDRF (307 men with 60 boats and other accessories etc) have been deployed for the rescue and relief operations. Out of the 10 teams, 6 teams are deployed at Jajpur, 3 at Kendrapara and 1 team at Bhadrak. These teams have already started evacuating the marooned people to safer places.

Yesterday, two helicopters ( 1 from Indian Air Force and 1 from Indian Navy ) have been deployed for air-dropping of the food packets and rescue operations. Today, two more MI-17 helicopters(total 4 helicopters) have been deployed by Air Force. The Central Government is closely monitoring the situation and is in close touch with the State Government for extending the required support and assistance.
