RESPONSIBLE JEWELLERY COUNCIL ANNOUNCES NEW MEMBER AT ‘VICENZAORO FIRST’


LONDON – The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) today announced that the Club degli Orafi Italia has joined the Council’s membership. The announcement was made at RJC’s press conference at the ‘VICENZAORO First’ Jewellery Show.

The Club degli Orafi Italia, the leading independent association of major Italian jewellers, joins more than 260 companies and key international and national trade associations including Jewelers of America, the American Gem Society, the National Association of Goldsmiths, the British Jewellers Association, the World Gold Council, the Union Française BJOP, the Danish Jewellers Association and the Italian Confindustria FEDERORAFI as Members of the RJC.

“l am delighted that this major association, the Club degli Orafi Italia, has become member of the Responsible Jewellery Council,” says John Hall, Vice Chairman, RJC.

“The Club degli Orafi Italia’s membership of the RJC will reinforce the Council’s mission amongst large and small industry players in the European market, adding an impressive level of expertise from the Italian jewellery industry to the RJC’s efforts,” says Mr Hall.

“We are very proud to be a member of RJC and look forward to working together with RJC and our members to ensure the responsible and ethical advancement of the industry,” says Luciano Mattioli, President, the Club degli Orafi Italia.


Founded in Milan in 1980, the Club degli Orafi Italia represents the most reliable source of information about trends in the Italian jewellery industry. The Club degli Orafi is an association for the whole industry in terms of the sharing of professional culture and relations between the Members, the most dynamic and innovative entrepreneurs in the industry.

The Responsible Jewellery Council is an international not-for-profit organisation bringing together more than 260 member companies committed to promoting responsible ethical, human rights, social and environmental practices in a transparent and accountable manner throughout the jewellery industry from mine to retail. Their commitment aims to reinforce consumer and stakeholder confidence in diamond, gold and platinum metals jewellery products. The Council has developed the RJC Member Certification System, a certification system – which will apply to all Members’ businesses that contribute to the diamond, gold and platinum metals jewellery supply chain. All Commercial Members of the RJC are required to be audited by accredited, third party auditors to verify their conformance with the RJC’s Code of Practices and become certified under the RJC Member Certification System.
