Railway Minister to Meet Trade and Industry

The Minister of Railways, Mamata Banerjee will interact with the representatives of Trade & Industry with a view to strengthen the Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the growth of Indian Railways at a special conference to be held here tomorrow. The interactive meeting will discuss issues in regard to various schemes which have recently been formulated to attract private investment in various Railway freight projects. These schemes are Private Freight Terminal (PFT), Special Freight Train Operator (SFTO), Automobile Freight Train Operator Scheme (AFTO), Wagon Leasing Scheme (WLS), new Railways’ Infrastructure for Industry Initiative (R3i) policy etc. The schemes have come up as a follow up to various budgetary announcements made by the Railway Minister.

Chairman, Railway Board, Shri Vivek Sahai and all the Board Members will be present on the occasion.

The participating agencies among others would include representatives of Chambers of Commerce and Industry from different states, major industry associations, important manufacturers of Railway related products and important rail customers.
