                                           Inauguration Of Indo-German Training Centre

 

Kolkata, Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - The indo-German Training Centre (IGTC) Kolkata was

inaugurated today at the Goethe-Institute/Max Mueller Bhavan, 20 young students attended

the first lesson of their post Graduate programme in Business Administration.

 

The Students were welcomed by Mr. Steinruecke, Director General of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), Mr.B. G. Roy, Regional Director of the IGCC Kolkata, Dr.Reimer Volker, Director, Goethe-Institue/Max Mueller Bhavan and Ms. Sabina Pandey, Director, IGTC Kolkata, Mr.Bernhard Steinruecke gave the inaugural lecture, presenting a detailed overview of the Indo-German Trade Relations and the importance of India as a trade and investment partner to Germany.

 

The lecture was followed by Ms. Mira Parekh’s presentation on various aspects of the Post

Graduate Programme in Business Administration. Ms. Parekh, alumni of IGTC Mumbai Batch

2008-10, shared her experiences of the 18 months training course, during which she spent 6-

months with Bosch in Bangalore and Stuttgart, Germany.

 

All IGTC students work with Indo-German companies for 6 months during their Post Graduate

Programme putting to use what they have learnt during the classroom training. Classes are held at the Goethe-Institue/Max Mueller Bhavan. Apart from management subjects, the students will learn German language as well.

 

In Kolkata, a number of international companies including BOC India, Nokia Siemens, B. Braun

Medical, Harbauer India, International Combustion, Metro Cash & Carry, M.N.Dastur & Co., Phoenix Yule, PS Group Realty, Stollberg, synergy Industrial Services, and Wacker Metroark Chemicals support the IGTC programme.

 

 

The induction of students was followed by an interactive session over lunch at the Goethe Institue / Max Mueller Bhavan. Apart from students and faculty, the Deputy Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Klaus Tesch,Mr.I.Sen, Chairman of Eastern India. Regional

Council of IGCC, representatives of Indo-German Companies in Kolkata and the staff of Goethe-Institut/ Max Mueller Bhavan were present.

 

This programme based on the German Dual System of Training now starts in Kolkata after Its big success in Mumbai started way back in 1991, in Chennai in 2005 and in Bangalore in 2008. With the start of this programme in Kolkata, the students from Eastern Region will now have the opportunities of going through the dual system of training which is very successfully practiced in Germany. This will facilitate job openings in the German companies.
