April 10, 2012 : The issue of reopening the Sahaganj plant was constructively discussed today in a tripartite meeting convened by the Labour Commissioner of West Bengal . Dunlop India Ltd was represented by a team; and representatives of all the three workers’ unions of the Sahaganj plant, affiliated to INTTUC, INTUC and CITU attended the meeting. Dunlop management presented a detailed proposal of reopening the Sahaganj plant in a phased manner and promised to consider the interest of the workers who will not be able to join immediately. The unions responded in a positive manner to the presentation and asked the management for written proposals to deliberate on. The Labour Commissioner said that the next meeting would be convened as soon as the proposal was ready. Thanking the Government for its meaningful intervention, the Dunlop management said it was hopeful of resolving the issues in a conclusive way in the next meeting.
