Steel producer POSCO honours ThyssenKrupp Uhde's coke oven plant construction business
ThyssenKrupp Uhde is again crowned 'Supplier of the Year' by POSCO. "To be awarded 'Supplier of the Year' by one of the world's biggest steel producers is of immense importance for our company and proof that the high quality of our products is appreciated," said Alfred Hoffmann, member of the ThyssenKrupp Uhde Executive Board.
Business relations between ThyssenKrupp Uhde and POSCO go back over 20 years. For example, all of the coke oven plants at Pohang and Gwangyang in South Korea were built by ThyssenKrupp Uhde. Now, as a result of this good cooperation, POSCO, the world's third biggest steel producer, has bestowed the 'Supplier of the Year' title on ThyssenKrupp Uhde for the second time. The award acknowledges, in particular, the successful supply and commissioning of a new coke oven plant by ThyssenKrupp Uhde in South Korea. The 2.8 million-tonne-per-year plant in Gwangyang is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to meet the high South Korean requirements for quality, environmental compatibility and cost efficiency.
The award was accepted during the celebrations for the successful commissioning of the whole of phase five of the steelworks expansion project in Gwangyang in December 2011. ThyssenKrupp Uhde was last awarded the title in 2009.
