Mining Indaba to Organise Annual events to attract Investment in India
The Mining Indaba, a mining event company based in the USA, will organize annual events in India to attract investment for mining. In the meeting it was also decided that such events would be facilitated by the Ministry and organized jointly by Mining Indaba and FIMI annually in September starting from 2011.
This decision was taken in a meeting with the Secretary, Ministry of Mines Smt. Santha Sheela Nair, Special Secretary (Mines) Shri S. Vijay Kumar and Mining Indaba’s Sr. Vice President and Managing Director, Mr. Jonathan Moore held in New Delhi recently. This initiative is being taken in tandem with the preparation of a new Mines and Minerals Act for the Indian mining sector based on the Mineral Policy, 2008 which seeks to promote private sector investments in exploration and mining.
The company is already holding an annual mining event in Cape Town, South Africa which has become hugely successful.
President, Secretary General of the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI), Participants from the mineral industries including Sesagoa, Tata, Salgaonkars, Rungta Mines, Rio Tinto and NALCO, Mineral Sector Consultants such as Bank of Montreal, Geosoft, Control Risks, Fugro Geotech and Hatch were also present in the meeting.
