All India Editor's Conference on Social Sector Issues in Puducherry
Two day All India Editor's Conference on Social Sector issues begins tomorrow in Puducherry. The purpose of conference organised by Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in association with the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, is to sensitize the media about the initiatives taken by the government towards empowering the people while addressing the basic issues like education, health, sanitation and livelihood. Around 75 senior journalists/ Editors/lead writers from news papers across the country are participating in the two days conference.
Hon'ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry Shri Iqbal Singh, Hon'ble Chief Minister Puducherry Shri N. Rangasamy, Hon'ble Union Minister for Rural Development Shri Jairam Ramesh, Hon'ble Minister of State for PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pension, Shri V. Narayanasamy and Hon'ble Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan are scheduled to address the inaugural function at Hotel Anandha Inn, Puducherry tomorrow afternoon.
Several Union Ministers are scheduled to address and interact with media persons during the two days conference. They include Shri Subodh Kant Sahay Hon'ble Minister for Tourism, Ms.(Dr) D. Purandeswari, Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Shri K V Thomas Hon'ble Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Several senior secretary level officers of Government of India are expected to participate in the conference. This is for the first time that conference is being held in southern part of India.
