Siyahi authors at Jaipur Literature Festival 2012


DSC Jaipur Literature festival is round the corner and the speakers list teems with luminaries from all corners of the literature world. This unique literary and cultural rendezvous will hold witness to some of the renowned Siyahi authors. Those who will capture the interest of the audience at the festival this year include the iconic legendary poet and lyricist Gulzar Saheb, the well established and famous designer Wendell Rodricks, writer-diplomat Pavan K. Varmawho is at present Indian Ambassador to Bhutan and political activist Aruna roy.

Adding to this list is Tabish Khair, winner of All India Poetry Prize whose book, The Thing About Thugs has been shortlisted for numerous awards including DSC South Asia Literary Prize which is going to be announced at Festival this year. Published and well known authors of the likes of Gurcharan Das, Mita Kapur, Navtej Sarna, Alka Pande,Nisha Susan and Pradip Kishen will also enthrall the audience at the festival.

The list is but complete without the mention of the Director of JLF and a Siyahi author Namita Gokhale, who is also a founder director for Siyahi.

The sessions to look out for are:

21st January
Navtej Sarna will be speaking at the session The Vision of the Gurus and Katha Kosh: The Never - ending Story

Pradip Kishen will entrance his audience with Green Thoughts in a Green Shade

The Argumentative Indian in Ancient India will feature Gurcharan Das

Gulzar Saheb and Pavan Varma will be speaking at the session Do Deewane Shehar Mein, introduced by Mita Kapur

Mita Kapur will speak in the evening session of The Prize: Awarding Literary Excellence or compounding hype ?

22nd January

Alka Pande will open the festival on the second day with the session The Taj

Namita Gokhale will be speaking at Transformations and Transgressions: Two Voices from Tamil.
