BLUESCOPE STEEL EXPANDS ITS EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP TEAM

BlueScope Steel today announced the appointment of Mr Pat Finan, as Executive General Manager of the Company’s new Global Building and Construction Markets (GBCM) business development group.
His appointment is effective 1 November. There are no changes to current business reporting segments.
Mr Finan (BSc Civil Engineering) joined BlueScope in 2004 and is currently President BlueScope Buildings North America.
BlueScope Managing Director and CEO, Mr Paul O’Malley welcomed Mr Finan to BlueScope’s Executive Leadership Team, saying, “Mr Finan will assist country Presidents to rapidly improve sales in the growing building and construction markets. His immediate focus will be to coordinate global sales, and to identify and pursue opportunities in new markets. He will relocate to Melbourne and lead the business from BlueScope’s head office.
“The building and construction sector accounts for more than 70% of our total steel sales and this will grow as urbanisation and industrialisation continue in high-growth emerging economies,” Mr O’Malley said.
“Globally, there is rising demand for more efficient design and construction solutions, improved energy efficiency and higher density structures. BlueScope has steel products and solutions to meet all these challenges and Mr Finan’s new business development group will seek out and develop these new opportunities.
“Mr Finan’s key task is to promote globally BlueScope’s premium sustainable steel products and solutions and our world class pre-engineered buildings capability.”
Mr Finan has great experience and knowledge of building and construction markets. He has worked with multinational companies in providing innovative building solutions in multi-site construction projects.
Mr O’Malley also announced that Mr Dan Kumm, currently President BlueScope Construction North America, will succeed Mr Finan as President BlueScope Buildings North America. “Dan has a proven track record running the North American construction business and he will be an able successor to Pat,” Mr O’Malley said.
