(New York, NY – August 11, 2009) Film Independent, Banana Republic, and Vanity Fair are pleased to announce thelaunch of Project: Involve “City Stories” – an interactive Web site and promotion featuring 10 short films inspired by the style of French New Wave, Banana Republic’s Fall 5, and created by teams of independent filmmakers participating in Film Independent’s signature diversity program Project: Involve.

The film shorts will be available for public viewing and voting from August 11 until September 4, 2009 at vfagenda.com/BananaRepublic, with the winning team receiving a cash prize of $2,500 at a private screening event in Los Angeles.

The Web site includes behind–the-scenes video blogs, interviews with Vanity Fair special correspondent Emily Poenisch, including anecdotes from the filmmakers about their Project: Involve experience. Consumers are encouraged to vote for their favorite film and be entered for a chance to win a $1,000 Banana Republic Giftcard.

With support from Banana Republic and Vanity Fair, Film Independent was able to expand the production-based curriculum for this program offering 38 Project: Involve filmmakers a budget of $20,000 to shoot 10, three-minute short films around the theme “City Stories.”

Partnership with W Hotels Worldwide® will bring greater visibility to these emerging artists by showcasing the 10 shorts on the brand’s in-room Vision channel at its properties globally. Also during August, guests checking in at W Hotels in the US and Canada will receive a special retail offer as part of the W Hotels’ signature Welcome Delights program.
